Dear Employer:
I am writing in response to your job for [position that is listed]. The position requirements and my skills are a perfect match. I served in the US Army for seven years and believe my leadership skills, as well as my knowledge in the satellite communications field, would be a significant asset to your company.
During my time in the Army, I served in Korea and provided reliable Internet and VOIP connectivity for numerous field exercises as well as providing support to the Republic of Korea Army. I was accountable for and managed a Joint Nodal Network Equipment Shelter which contained computer equipment valued at over five hundred thousand dollars. I oversaw the operations of the shelter and managed the three men which maintained the firewalls, GPS system, Trunk Encryption devices and phone cases needed to perform the job. One of the accomplishments, of which I am particularly proud, is that this three man team could bring the shelter from a travel position to be fully operational in less than twenty minutes.
As a Non-commissioned officer in the U.S. Army, a great deal of my work involved teaching and training soldiers how to perform their occupational specialty skills as well as individual soldier skills. As you will see on my enclosed resume, I have the educational background, professional experience, and certifications for which you are searching. In addition, I am motivated and enthusiastic, and would appreciate the opportunity to contribute to your company’s success.
I am confident of my ability to contribute to your organization. I would appreciate the opportunity to speak with someone about this opportunity and learn what attributes you are seeking in the selected candidate. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
David Velasco
